If you're looking to do the State Park Passport, then this is the series for you! I'm detailing our experiences at each of the parks and sharing pictures so you can have an easier time planning and getting out there!
Our family started the park passport when my oldes son was first born and we have taken some breaks here and there but most importantly we like to go experience the park as a whole before we get our stamp. Because my husband and I both have to "check off" all of the top attractions at each park, it has taken us much longer to finish this journey. However, we have found so many diamond in the roughs that we never would have visited and this journey has also led us to our OBSESSION with camping!

I try to squeeze in any park visit when we are in the near vicinity especially if we are not planning on camping there and Aiken State Park was not too far off the road from our trip to Atlanta. It was a perfect little detour that we could stretch our legs and the hike was very pretty.
We hiked around the trail, visited the artesian well and stuck our feet in the Edisto River. This is a beautiful park for a day trip but I will preface this by saying that we visited before Hurricane Helene tore through the area. I can only update on what we loved about the park but not to its current state.
At the time of our visit, the park boasted a dense pine forest, a swiming pond, Edisto River access, a playground and artesian wells. There was plenty to do if you just enjoy being outdoors.
If I were to plan another trip to Aiken State Park (given that it has recovered from Helene damage) I would include a paddle trip on the Edisto River. And I would not mind trying out their primitive campsite just to really say that we experienced all this park had to offer!
Have you visited Aiken State Park yet? What did you love about it and what would you suggest to others going! Let us know below!
